Calculating the Potential of Your Philanthropic Legacy

We will need some information to develop a profile of your estate. All data fields require an entry and all entries should be in Canadian dollars. Some of the questions may not be applicable to your circumstances and in those cases you must enter zero into the data box. This data is not kept by JCFC and will disappear at the end of the session unless you choose to print or save a copy for your records.

Determining the Value of Your Assets: (All entries in Canadian Dollar (no decimals) and positive numbers)

What is the total value of your non-registered investments?

(This includes publicly traded shares, mutual funds and bonds, including State of Israel bonds.)

What is the total value of your registered investments?

(This includes your RRSP, RRIF, LIRA and/or LIF and Defined Contribution Pension Plans)

What is the total value of your TFSA?

What is the total of your gross unrealized capital gains from shares?

(Exclude gains in privately held corporations.)

What is the total of your net capital loss carry forwards?

What is the value of the gain on other real estate (excluding principle residence)?

What is the market value of any privately held corporations?

What is the Adjusted Cost Base of any privately held corporations?

What is the value of your life insurance policies?

What is the value of your cash deposits (in the bank, etc.)?

What is the net value of your principal residence?

(Market Value minus Debt)

What is the total value of other income anticipated in the year of death?

(Interest, dividends, other income, etc.)

What is the total value of debts and liabilities owing on the estate?

(Exclude debt on your principle residence)

What is the total amount of legacy donations to date
(i.e. - already established and funded)?

What is the size of the charitable donation you are currently planning to make at time of death?

This information will now be used to estimate your legacy and demonstrate how making a larger charitable donation maximized your legacy with minimal impact on your heirs.
