Ted & Betty Ribackz’l & William (Bill) Cohenz’l Scholarships

Every child deserves the chance to attend summer camp. Years ago, Ted Riback traveled to communities throughout Alberta and Saskatchewan to raise funds to establish a permanent Jewish summer camp on the shores of Pine Lake, AB. Today, Ted’s family continues the commitment of helping young people from small towns attend Camp BB Riback.

William Cohen, born and raised in Calgary, loved going to summer camp as a child. In adulthood, those warm memories led him to become a supporter of Camp BB Riback. As time went on, William was thrilled to see his children, and then grandchildren, spend their summers on Pine Lake, first as campers, and then as staff. This scholarship, established in William Cohen’s memory, is to make sure lack of funds will never stop a child from attending camp.

Camp BB Riback takes great pride in creating a loving, welcoming environment for all of our campers. Every young person who stays at Camp BB Riback can be assured they will have an amazing summer in an atmosphere of tolerance, safety, inclusiveness and, of course, FUN! Would you like to join us for a summer of adventure and a lifetime of friendships, memories, traditions and skills?

If you live in Western Canada outside of Calgary & Edmonton, you may qualify for a scholarship from either  the Ted & Betty Riback Scholarship Fund or the William (Bill) Cohen Scholarship Fund held at the Jewish Community Foundation of Calgary. The Grants and Allocation committee will review all applications and determine funding based on eligibility, financial need and available funds in confidence. To apply please access this link . The JCFC will inform Camp BB Riback of approved funding decisions and amounts.
